ePortID does not connect directly to your EHR — a design choice that keeps hospital IT and security teams comfortable. At registration, staff capture the medical record number (MRN) from the EHR and tie it to the patient's palm scan. On any later visit, the scan returns that MRN into the EHR's MRN field, and the clinician moves forward with the right chart. No direct EHR integration, no read/write access, no PHI stored on our side.
